Common Job Interview Questions

Interviews are very important because they can fetch you your dream job. Professionalism is very much required if you are aspiring for a job in multi national companies. Companies may have casual dress code but when it comes to interview or IJP it is entirely different they require professionalism.

These five questions are generally asked universally where ever you are: -
1) Take us through your profile (remember this question is asked in many formats, answer to this question is same for all the formats, you have to take the interviewer through the format).
2) Why made you to choose this company for your career? Tell us something about the company?
3) What was the main reason for you to leave your previous employer and what interested you to apply for this company?
When answering this question have a soft positive tone and don’t brood over the negative points of your ex- employer. A thorough research can make you clear about why you want to apply to this particular company. If you have relatives, friends, family members working in the company you can state their name otherwise it is good to say from the information you have researched about the company on the internet, etc.
4) Explain me about your project?
Fresher`s can explain about their graduation project and experienced people can speak about their previous project. If you have experience in a BPO you can very well state about your experience in a particular project you and your team members were involved in.
5) Why should the company hire you and not the other candidates?
Answer to this question should be very detailed explain to them about your technical expertise, management skills, projects you have handled and their relevance to the current job opening, punctuality, etc. Whatever you say it should be your achievements.
These are some of the most common behavioral questions: -
1) Explain or tell us about a situation during your project when you had conflicting ideas or interests with your team members?
2) Tell us how you manage stress?
3) There might be situations when you had to work late night for accomplishing a task what was it and how did you feel during that days?
4) Tell us about a situation during your career when you had to challenge or contradict your superiors on conflicting management or technical issues?
5) Tell us about a situation during your career when your team members are not as capable as you are and how did you handle it?
6) Take us through your technical skills which you deem important to the current job opening and how they benefit the company?
When ever you are asked about behavioral questions interviewers have only one thing in mind which is past performance reflects future performance. These questions need to be prepared before hand and you will face difficulty to answer them during the interview. A little bit of homework can help you take notes of all your projects you had handled and try to write answers for the questions. Refresh your memory before going to an interview.

3) A team member in your project is coming late often and is sending negative vibes through the team? How would you react to that particular situation?
4) You have to fire your close friend what will you do and how will you explain it to him? Will you fire him or give him a notice (warning letter)?
5) You are in the training and the trainer is wrong about a concept how will you tell her that she is wrong?
6) Do you believe rules are meant to clear obstacles or they just a deterrent to the progress and free climate of the company?
Situational questions can catch you unaware be prepared the best way to prepare for situational questions and stress questions is to have stories written out in a paper before two to three days prior to the interview. It gives you a good glimpse and understanding about answering those questions.
